west taliesineverything west of the river, including the shopping district and government offices, west taliesin is green and glass spotted with baroque aos si architecture. the roughwilds are held enough at bay to allow the city to function, but there are still carpets of moss on the sidewalk and wildflower meadows battling carparks. buildings half-disappear behind carpets of creepers or the thick roots of encroaching trees. where the skyscrapers clear, the mansions of aos si royalty sprawl. east taliesineverything to the east of the river, east taliesin encompasses most of the business district and some of the more residential regions. here, rigid concrete highrise apartment blocks rise out of a sea of moss and verdigris and the gleaming glass of skyscrapers is cut by trailing vines. the baroque construction of aos si buildings are more rare, but they too jostle with cedars and even formidable redwoods for dominance. sprays of vividly coloured flowers burst at ground level level or out of cracks in concrete and brick wall, and clouds of morpho butterflies explode from tangled power pylons at the sudden movement of vehicles at traffic lights over tarmac that requires constant upkeep not to buckle and split as roots and weeds try to push on through. taliesin hivesthe taliesin hives came about when the suburbs got wild and anything beyond them got dangerous and population flooded into the city. jumbled stacks of hastily-constructed apartment blocks, the hives are a ghetto and a forest come together. winter and trumpet creeper drape over concrete and glass overhead, shrubbery and wildflowers carpeting the lower levels, where the textures of peeling paint, wooden crates, steel containers, and more concrete mix to form shanty towns. most of the narrow streets are covered in grass rather than tarmac, and the sidewalks buckle over wide roots. predominantly human, the hives are not without crime but they are also bound by a strong sense of community -- they don't quite qualify as a slum, but it's certainly a place some aos si fear to tread. motyuramotyura describes the region of suburbs and residential areas around taliesin, specifically to the north and west: here are sprawling suburban developments under pressure from the feywilds. the forest bursts up and through, filling all space between houses and sometimes coming up through them, with creepers and vines climbing between. regions half wild. annfwynannfwyn sprawls out all east and south around taliesin. mostly wilds spotted with a few industrial areas, annfwyn is cut by the super-highway that connects taliesin to the rest of washington, but most of its roads are two-lane and dip below the treeline. taliesin emergence zonewhen the aos si breached into our world, they brought the roughwilds through from theirs: although most places have their share of roughwild contagion, the densest zones of tangled wood and primal forest are around the rips in reality where the aos si came through. the taliesin emergence zone is partially fenced off, a massive region of roughwild that hides creatures that slipped through from the fortunate isles. there are swallowed cities under centuries worth of moss and creepers obscured by the canopy, skyscrapers broken down or jutting, awkward and isolated, through the canopy, with all their windows blown through. Sub-boards: fortress of the red king, cúscraid gate, deepwoods |

olympic wildernessthe wilds have grown to cover most of the olympic peninsula and what was once a national park has swallowed almost half of the state. vast temperate rain forest, in places seeming impossibly ancient, breaks against the high, rocky cliffs of the north coast. to the east, golden valleys and dry mountain ranges border taliesin and snow capped, glaciated mountains harbor small, rough villages and trading posts. it's wilder then the east, and it shows in the people here: in the architecture and how they live close to the land. superstition and tradition have strong hold over the west: there are fewer cities left than on the other side of the cascades and the villages are small and half-absorbed by the forest, and taliesin law does not extend as far as it would like. the cascadescharacterized by massive, sweeping mountain ranges, alpine ridges, deep blue lakes and forests of giant fir and hemlock trees, the cascade range covers the largest area between taliesin and the east. towns are built around the monstrous trees, into hillsides, and over riverbeds. the long, cracked asphalt roads that stretch through the mountain passes like veins connect east with west and link together strings of isolated cities. eastern washingtoncoming down off the cascades on some two-lane highway or the massive 82 brings you onto more temperate planes and grasslands. more densely populated than the wildly overgrown west due to a more subtle roughwild contamination of knee-high grasses and knotted bracken and fertile fields, the east resembles more closely the washington of fifty years ago.
