fortress of the red king
there was a city here, once: but it was on the front lines and when the aos si came, the war came and the roughwilds came: all that's left now are hollow houses and highrises with all their windows blown through, barely appearing above the treeline. the roughwildes crowd around and in and over the ghost town, swallowing up buildings and bursting through the tarmac. the suburbs of the city are made up of weirdly shaped mounds of overgrowth at regular intervals along what used to be roads. wild animals stalk the insides of crushed malls. sometimes even green men walk the busted-up sidewalks. carparks occasionally break the wood up as strange meadows, but mostly the city has been absorbed by the forest. not all the destruction was done by the forest, though: this is one of the rare examples of how seelie magic was used against humanity when the aos si breached.

cúscraid gate
the cúscraid gate isn't really a gate so much as a stand of redwood - including the rare, albino ghost redwood - on the edge of the deepwoods where the fences and seals that are supposed to keep people out and monsters in are most frequently broken. somewhere here has the wildest parts of the fortunate isles imbued and no fences stay unbroken, no seals undisrupted. monsters funnel through here out into the wider world, the the crazy few who wish to explore the deepest regions of the emergence zone pass through the eerie forest.

deepwoods
the densest region of forestation in the the taliesin region, perhaps the whole deyrnas, the deepwoods are where the roughwilds originate. the rip in the world where the aos si came through is somewhere in the primal forest, and out come all of the strangest creatures and afflictions of the fortune isles. fences and seelie seals keep people out and monsters in, but both find their way around the attempts to keep them at bay. here, there are places so densely forested it's always dark on the surface. trees that would take millennium to grow to the sizes they have in half a century. plants human botanists wouldn't recognize or know what to do with. the shadows shift. every rustle is a monster threat.
